A Message From the President

It is my great honor and privilege to serve the Junior League of Johnson City as President in the 2022 – 2023 League year. I am overjoyed to join the 2022-23 Board to provide a great member-focused League year while fulfilling our purpose to the community we serve.

Over the past 75 years, the Junior League of Johnson City has had a lasting and positive impact on our community. We are on the forefront of key initiatives and advocacy efforts to improve the well-being of women and children in Johnson City. Our League projects and members have been pivotal to the founding of several remarkable programs in Johnson City, including Watauga Area Mental Health Center, Hands On! Museum, Children’s Advocacy Center, Johnson’s Depot Playground and the Caring Cabinets Network in partnership with Girl Scouts of the Southern Appalachians.

Our members dedicate thousands of volunteer hours each year, in addition to being pillars of strength and charity in their homes, workplaces, neighborhoods, and broader communities.

We are an organization that believes in equity and inclusion for all. We embrace our differences and come together as a unified front to stand up for those who need our support. Creating a community where we connect and protect each other as people is always at the forefront of our membership and service.

Each year, the Junior League offers us with new learning opportunities, trainings and experiences. The Junior League has been preparing us to show up and lead under any circumstance, and that has never been more relevant than today. We will all get to be leaders and innovators this year as we re-engage and create meaningful connection, impact and growth. This year will offer many new exciting opportunities.

Our remarkable members are hard at work on many of these efforts.  It is a true privilege to work alongside such a motivated, passionate and inspiring group of women, as your 2022-2023 President.

The last two years have challenged us to be creative in how we serve the community and remain connected, but one thing is certain, the power and role of the Junior League has never been more significant. The Junior League needs you and the community needs us. Whether you choose to make a donation, sponsor our projects and programs, become a community partner, or join our membership, your support of our mission will ensure that we continue to deepen our impact and transform our volunteers into civic leaders.

No matter the challenge, no matter the issue, we are the Junior League of Johnson City. We are better together, and we are ready to live up to our purpose and carry on our legacy.

Sincerely,
Cristi Blalock
’22 – ’23 JLJC President
